The Training

A full winter of pro coaching

The Academy is the same paid-coaching program our own Year-Round and Competitive players train in — run by ROC Soccer Club staff at FLX Turf, 2625 County Road 22, Canandaigua.

Block One · November – December
2 hrs per week

A weeknight session plus a Saturday session, every week — the months when most players stop touching the ball. Six training weeks, twelve hours.

Coached by ROC Soccer Club staff
Block Two · January – March
1 hr per week

One weeknight session carries through the deep winter, so players walk onto their spring field sharper than they left the fall. Eleven training weeks, eleven hours.

How It Works

Training only. That's the point.

Academy players are not FLX SC club members and are never asked to become one. You play for your own club — we just train you all winter.

The Academy includes

  • Every pro-coached session, November through March
  • ROC Soccer Club coaching staff, every week
  • Indoor turf all winter at FLX Turf
  • Five age groups, U9 through U17
  • Open enrollment — any club, any town

The Academy is not

  • Not a team — no games, no roster spot
  • Not club membership — no FLX SC registration
  • Not a uniform purchase — train in your own kit
  • Not a commitment beyond March

Wear your club's colors to every session. We mean it.

The Staff

The same coaches our travel teams get

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to leave my current club?
No — and you shouldn't. The Academy is training only. You stay registered with your own club, play your own club's schedule, and wear your own club's kit to every session. Nothing about the Academy affects your rostering anywhere.
Is this the same training FLX SC players get?
Yes — Academy players train in the same pro-coached winter program as our Year-Round and Competitive tiers, run by the same ROC Soccer Club staff. The one piece reserved for club members is the extra weekly hour with FLX SC volunteer coaches from January to March, which supports our own teams' spring preparation.
What ages can join?
Boys and girls, U9 through U17, in five age groups under the August 1 – July 31 birth windows shown in the schedule above. Girls train in two groups (U9–U12 and U13–U16) and boys in three (U9–U11, U12–U14, and U15–U17).
Can we join FLX SC as a club later?
Yes — if you love training with us, stay. Add the club season for $450, which lands at $925 total — the same as our Competitive tier, so your Academy fee counts in full. We just need your commitment by November 30, when our rosters go to the league. After that, teams are set — but we'll gladly add you in the spring whenever there's space on a team.
Where and when are sessions?
All sessions are indoors at FLX Turf, 2625 County Road 22, Canandaigua, beginning the week of November 2 and running through the week of March 22 — with no sessions Thanksgiving week, over the holiday break (Dec 21 – Jan 3), or mid-winter break (Feb 15–21). Your group's weekly days and times are in the schedule table above.
